Today’s post takes us all the way to Malaysia where Sha tells us about herself, her views on Malaysia’s reading culture (I found this interesting) and so much more. Grab a cuppa and join in. ☕❤️

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.

Uhmm so I am Sha. I just turned 19 last August and is still freaking out that I’m going to be 20 next year. I love making friends and I would love to be friends with every bookish friends on Twitter. But the problem is, I am so awkward when it comes to making a conversation by chatting. I am an extrovert and I prefer to talk to people face to face.

2. What are you currently reading?

Actually, I’m not reading anything at the moment. I will get back to it once I’m not really busy with school.

3. What is your favorite genre and why?

I have always loved Young Adult & Contemporaries. This genre is what made me love reading. The first novel I read was Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler and from that, I started to read more and I really love what I was doing. And still am.

4. What do you think about the reading culture in Malaysia?

Honestly? You can only see a few people who really like to read. In where I live which is Borneo, we don’t have authors having a book-signing because what is there to sign if the people don’t like to read? We don’t have libraries privilege like the UK and the USA do. We don’t even have such thing as working as a librarian. That is hardly a job here. Our libraries are so dull. And we hardly have a book club. What I can say about the reading culture here is, most Malaysians don’t like to read. They would rather do something else rather than getting their nose stuck in a book, they said.

5. Name 3 reading habits that you have. I can read anywhere.I will always have my phone with me while I’m reading so I can take down notes, especially when I’m reviewing. Not just that, I will also have a highlighter with me so I can highlight sentences I love.
6. Do you prefer tea or coffee? How do you take it?
Tea! Mostly, I’ll have it with just sugar. But it really depends on my mood.

7. What is the one book you recommend to people?
My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga! This book really speaks to me.

8. Where can we find you?
I really appreciate it if you really want to be friends with me 💕
I’m always on Twitter
