Welcome to a new feature Coffee With Fay, a weekly  post where I chat with, readers, bloggers and authors with an aim to connect, learn and share more about books.

Today I have the pleasure of speaking to Jan, who  I recently met and I’m delighted to chat with.

1. Tell me a little about yourself.
I am not very good about telling people about myself so I will tell you about what I love. I love reading because it gives me an adventure wherever I am, I love baby sitting, I love travelling and I love cooking

2. What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer. A few pages into Cinder and it’s definitely a page turner and in as much as it’s a YA dystopian/ Sci fi book, there are some important issues being addressed symbolically. It’s an easy read dystopia and YA for anyone looking to start reading the genre . So far the plotting is quick paced and the character building is okay. Fingers crossed, I hope to enjoy it.

3. What is your favorite genre and why?

My fav genres are fantasy, sci-fi and contemporary YA in equal measure…. fantasy because of word building, sci-fi appeals to the nerd in me and Contemporary YA brings me back to this world in a gentle way.

4. What do you think about the reading culture in Kenya?

I wish kenyans would stop reading so much self help and discover other awesome genres out here that have lessons to teach….. please do not kill me.

5. Name 3 reading habits you have.

I read in my bed mostly, I read for 8 hours on Sunday, I need my fluffy sweater to be next to me as I read.

6. What is the one book you recommend to people?

I recommend A language of thorns by Leigh Bardugo or All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater

7. Where can we find you?

You can find me on Instagram
