Today I have the pleasure to have Issa on my blog. A wonderful writer whose words are so relatable. Read ahead to see his answers.

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I’m Issa. I only have one name. I can say I was a foster kids, which for some of us means growing up, life wasn’t something to be desired. But now I love life. Mostly because i don’t have to rely on anyone or wait around for someone. I get up and do whatever the fuck I want (I am allowed curse. I tend to do that a lot). I’m dumb and anyone who knows me will tell you one of this two… Either I’m a weirdo or strange. Because I have never known how to not be myself. And it never bothers me that people think I’m weird. That’s who I am.

2. What are you currently reading?

I’m reading The Girl Who Takes An Eye For An Eye, and honestly I’m trying to finish it before the end of the year. So I only have till midnight tomorrow. It’s an awesome book. The fifth book in the millennium series, you know The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo books.

3. What is your favorite genre and why?

I love thriller when it comes to books. I don’t know why I honestly but it could be that I find the mystery very intriguing. My favorite author is David Baldacci followed closely by Lee Child. Oh I also love Daniel Silva and Haruki Murakami (even thou I’m starting to think Haruki doesn’t do thriller)

4. What do you think about the reading culture in Kenya?

I really don’t have an opinion about it. But I never wonder why people don’t read.

5. Name 3 reading habits that you have.

This is a tough one since I barely form habits but I love hardcopies. I always have a book with me. Let’s see, I tend to read at random places. In the mat while going to work sometimes even when I’m out with friends. When I get bored I will just get out my book and start reading. Oh I have remembered the most weird habit, I sometimes read when I’m high.
One other thing is, I always read online at work. Last time I was there I had just finished reading Storm Glass and I was to start the second book, Sea Glass

6. Do you prefer tea or coffee? How do you take it?

Coffee any day. Anywhere. Cappuccino is my poison. I like it strong. My friends don’t even bother with my coffee because they know it’s not for everyone. Sometimes they call me an addict but I don’t agree with that. As much as I drink coffee a lot, I don’t depend on it.

7. What is one book you recommend to people?

Can I recommend two books? Both by Haruki. Think of it, Haruki is not for everyone. But still he does a really job with his books. The two books are Norwegian Wood and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. The latter will feel like a never ending journey but you will get lost in it and frustrated at the book and the characters. Norwegian Wood will have you invested and follow Toru as he walks around his city with Naoko.

8. Where can we find you?

I haven’t done much writing this past few weeks but my blog is a good place to start. Issainwords and issa_in_words on twitter, even thou there I just ramble like a crazy person.
