“The sudden disappointment of a hope leaves a scar which the ultimate fulfillment of that hope never entirely removes.”

I first ‘met’ Thomas Hardy years ago when I read Fifty Shades of Grey. Christian & Anna were bantering(?) in reference to Tess of the D’Urbervilles and I was so intrigued that I made a point to read the book. Since then I have come across Thomas Hardy in different novels and seeing him discussed all over booktube & bookstagram that I have made it my mission to read all this works.

Currently on my shelf I own 4 of his books that I want to read first.

1. Far From The Madding Crowd

I finished reading this book about 1 week or so ago and I can honestly say it is a wonderful read and I got to get my feel around Hardy’s writing. It made me even more excited to get on with the other books.

2. The Mayor of Casterbridge

If you follow me on Twitter then you might have seen me mention The Mayor of Casterbridge before. I wasn’t in a rush to pick it up until Hardy kept on referring to this little town, in Far From the Madding Crowd, and as you have guessed it I got really curious. It’ll definitely be my next read!

3. Tess of the D’Urbervilles

Tess of the D’Urbervilles, the book that started all this. You’d think I would have read it by now but the book is huge and I’m not going to lie, it’s scary! Though if you read my Victober Reading Challenge TBR post you know I’ll be picking it up soon for one of the prompts.

4. Jude the Obsecure

I really don’t have much to say about this book other than I saw mentioned somewhere that it’s dark gothic book and I was sold. I’ll let you know if it’s true when I do get to read it.

Are you fan of Thomas Hardy? Have you read any of his books? What did you think about them?
