Welcome to a new feature I’m trying out called Coffee With Fay, a weekly post where I’ll be chatting with other readers, bloggers and authors. My aim is to connect, learn and share more about books. Maybe you’ll find your next read here.

Today’s feature is Vicky, one of the first people I met when I joined bookstagram & a person I greatly admire.

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

Well I started reading when I was little, my family are readers (used to be) and it’s a habit that has passed down through the generations. I started my blog because I don’t have too many reader friends and the family has migrated to various places. So to have a place where I can discuss books enthusiastically, I started a blog and bookstagram.

2. What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading How To Be A Bawse in audiobook, Poems On The Underground and The Assassinations.

3. What is your favorite genre and why?

I can’t really pick a favourite genre but I do have a weakness for thrillers. Always have. It is just the perfect thing to completely distract you from life.

4. What do you think about the reading culture in India?

It sucks. Really sucks. Many authors use books to push their political agenda and their agenda is usually motivated by what is popular at the time and their opinions aren’t well informed. Most people only read popular fiction that is badly written or these politically motivated books. Finding readers who read well and aren’t agenda driven is close to impossible.

5. Name 3 reading habits you have.

I need to have a bookmark with me when I’m travelling. Even if I’m not carrying a book because I tend to buy books.

I always make sure I have an audiobook on my phone. Just in case.

And I cannot eat snacks when I’m reading. I do drink hot chocolate or coffee but snacks are a no go.

6. What is the one book you would recommend to people?

It’s different books for different people. I currently recommend Aavarana because it is a very important book. I’d also recommend The Gift Of Fear to all women.
